Actor Ranveer Singh's espionage-thriller Dhurandhar has added another milestone to its overseas collection by surpassing a nine-year-old record previously held by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2. The Aditya Dhar directorial became the highest-grossing Indian film in North America.

The film has cemented its status as the highest-grossing Hindi release in India, netting over Rs 800 crore and approaching a Rs 1000 crore gross milestone, as reported by Hindustan Times. Despite being restricted in the Middle East, it has earned a remarkable $32 million overseas, driven primarily by a historic run in North America, the report mentioned. By Tuesday, the spy thriller grossed $21 million in the US and Canada, officially overtaking the $20.7 million record held since 2017 by the Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer Baahubali 2.

During its $21 million run in the US,

Dhurandhar outperformed a string of massive hits, including Kalki 2898 AD ($18.5 million), Pathaan ($17.5 million), and Jawan ($15.6 million). The film also moved past the box office earnings of RRR ($15.3 million), Pushpa 2 ($15.3 million), Animal ($14 million), and Dangal ($12.4 million), as reported by HT. In addition to its North American success, it has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in Australia and currently ranks 13th on the all-time list of top-earning Indian movies in overseas markets, the report emphasised.

In Dhurandhar, Ranveer plays the undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari. The movie also brings together a formidable cast: R Madhavan is cast as the Indian spymaster Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, Akshaye Khanna as the real-life gangster Rehman Dakait, and Arjun Rampal as ISI Major Iqbal, a figure inspired by terrorist Ilyas Kashmiri.
