Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has weighed in on the growing hype around Dhurandhar 2, calling the upcoming sequel “the biggest multi-starrer ever” in Indian cinema. His comments arrive as anticipation builds for the Aditya Dhar–directed film, which opens in cinemas on March 19.
Sharing his thoughts on X on Sunday, Ram Gopal Varma praised the film’s impact and the stature of its characters, writing, “Dhurandhar 2 will be the biggest multi-starrer ever, in the history of cinema, because each and every character in the 1st film has become enormously huge in the audiences’ mind, in terms of both their value and impact, which is what true
stardom is really about (sic).”
He added, “In the 1st part, the characters could have been small or big, but now all of them have become giant superstars and hence #Dhurandhar2 will be the BIGGEST MULTI STARRER ever (sic).”
Varma has long praised the film’s approach to scale and storytelling. Previously describing Dhurandhar as “a quantum leap in Indian cinema,” he added that the film treats cinema “as confrontation and not consumption, because it doesn’t want to just entertain you for three and half hours, but its real intention is to stay with you long after the film is over – maybe forever.”
