The ashes of legendary actor Dharmendra were immersed in Ganga at Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri on Wednesday morning with full Vedic rituals. The ceremony was carried out by the actor’s grandsons, a day after the family arrived in Haridwar.

Dharmendra’s sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, along with four other family members, reached Haridwar on Tuesday and stayed at the Pilibhit House. The immersion ceremony was kept completely private, with the family maintaining a distance from the media throughout.

On Wednesday morning, Dharmendra’s grandsons performed the asthi visarjan under the guidance of the family’s longtime tirth purohit, Rahul. The rituals were conducted at Har Ki Pauri, after

which the family returned to the hotel’s private ghat for a holy dip in the Ganga. They later departed for the airport.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, tirth purohit Pandit Rahul said, “Dharmendra ji’s ashes were brought to Haridwar today. We are his family’s traditional priests, and they have been visiting us for many years. The family was staying at a private hotel, from where we took the ashes to Har Ki Pauri for the ritual immersion. After the immersion, the family performed the customary Ganga snan, prayers, and aarti.”

He added that six members of the Deol family were present: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sunny’s sons Karan and Abhay, and Bobby’s two sons.
