Versatile actor Irrfan Khan was buried at Mumbai’s Versova kabrastaan on Wednesday afternoon after he succumbed to a colon infection at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital earlier in the day. As the news spread Celebs from Bollywood, Hollywood, Tollywood and Sports farternity pen heartfelt notes and post tributes all over social media for Irrfan Khan today.

Here are some heartfelt notes for the demise of the actor:

Nawazuddin Siddiqui condoled Irrfan Khan's death and wrote, "In the year 2000 a film directed by #IrrfanKhan named ALVIDA starred me and I was lucky to have my mentor as my co-star in many films.No one will ever be able to fill his space in the entire world of cinema. Never thot in the worst of my dreams, that will have to say “ALVIDA'.

Irrfan's Piku co-star Deepika Padukone shared a black photo with a broken heart on Instagram.

Actress Sonam Kapoor tweeted, "Rest in peace @irrfan sir. You have no idea what your kindness and encouragement meant to me at my lowest. My condolences to your family and loved ones."

Anil Kapoor payed condolences and wrote, "Indescribably saddened to hear that we've lost Irrfan Khan. I'll always be thankful to him for taking care of Sonam when they worked together & for being her guiding light at the time. He was an inspiration for everyone, a remarkable actor, unmatched talent & a great human being."

Salman Khan shared a photo with the late actor and called his death a big loss. He captioned the photo as, "Big loss to the film industry, his fans, all of us n specially his family. My heart goes out to his family. May God give them strength. Rest in peace brother u shall always be missed n be in all our hearts.."

Subhash Ghai tweeted, "GOOD BYE IRFAAN A man with golden heart n abundance talent. You will be marked as an institution in art of acting in transforming a theatre style

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the death of the actor and wrote, "Irrfan Khan’s demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers. May his soul rest in peace."

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared a throwback picture with the late actor and captioned it as, "My friend...inspiration & the greatest actor of our times. Allah bless your soul Irrfan bhai...will miss you as much as cherish the fact that you were part of our lives. “पैमाना कहे है कोई, मैखाना कहे है दुनिया तेरी आँखों को भी, क्या क्या ना कहे है” Love u."

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "T 3516 - .. just getting news of the passing of Irfaan Khan .. this is a most disturbing and sad news .. Folded hands An incredible talent .. a gracious colleague .. a prolific contributor to the World of Cinema .. left us too soon .. creating a huge vacuum .. 

Irrfan Khan's Angrezi Medium co-star Radhika Madaan said, "I dont know what to say... my heart aches when i write this. He was one the strongest people i knew, a fighter. And so are  Sutapa ma'am ,Babil and Ayan. I'm just grateful that our paths crossed in this lifetime. He is and will always be an inspiration to many. A legend. The man who changed the wave of the indian film industry.May his soul rest in peace."

Priyanka Chopra tweeted, "The charisma you brought to everything you did was pure magic. Your talent forged the way for so many in so many avenues.. You inspired so many of us. #IrrfanKhan you will truly be missed. Condolences to the family."
