A romantic hero, his family said that the actor "remained jovial" and "kept doctors entertained till the end." The family said Rishi "would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears."

Various Bollywood Celebrities took to social media to express their condolence:

Remembering Rishi Kapoor,  Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "a diligent enthusiastic youngster, ready to pounce onto every learning that came his way, in that famous large and legendary make up room, of Raj ji at the end of the first floor corridor of make up rooms".

Shah Rukh Khan took to Instagram and wrote, "Heartfelt condolences to the Kapoor khandaan. May Allah give you all the strength to deal with your loss".

Veteran actor Dharmendra is extremely shattered on hearing the news of the demise of his "Sher Dil" co-star Rishi



Kapoor. "Sadme ke baad sadma, Rishi bhi chala gaya. He fought a brave battle against cancer. He was like son to me.I am extremely sad and shattered. Pray for his family," Dharmendra tweeted in the memory of Rishi Kapoor.

Sharing a video from one of the award shows, Maniesh Paul wrote, "Have hosted so many awards and would look forward to meeting Rishi Kapoor sir and having fun with him....he was always so sporting and encouraging...never a dull moment when he was around...from now on, on every award nite, for me, there will be one seat empty shall miss you sir... #mp #awards #rishikapoorsir #rip #wewillmissyou."

Paying her heartfelt tribute to Rishi Kapoor, singer Asha Boshle wrote, "Deepest condolences to the Kapoor family. Sorry I can’t be with you in your hour of grief, although Chintu was always always by my side through thick & thin. This picture of our last meeting is how I shall remember him always! He remains eternal & special"..

Music composer Pritam tweeted, "Om Shanti. Rishiji will always live in our hearts through his cinema and songs. No one made the songs as lively as he did. RIP Rishiji. My deep condolences to Ranbir, Neetuji, Riddhima and the entire Kapoor family."

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra shared on Twitter, "#Legends don’t die they shine forever. Grandson of the father of Indian cinema Prithvi Raj kapoor, son of a legend Raj Kapoor father of a genius maverick Ranbir, a pure son of the cinema himself @chintskap (the great Rishi kapoor) will live for ever in our hearts."
