In a new update, the much-awaited film 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, will now release in theatres on May 23, 2025, reversing its earlier decision to go directly to OTT.
Originally slated for a theatrical release on May 9, the film’s plans were disrupted due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. This led Maddock Films to consider an OTT-first release on May 16 via Prime Video. However, the sudden change did not go down well with leading multiplex chain PVRInox, which claimed a breach of contract and filed a legal suit seeking Rs 60 crore
in damages.
According to sources close to Pinkvilla, the dispute has now been amicably resolved following a court order. The court ruled in favour of a theatrical release on May 23, allowing Maddock Films to resume its promotional campaign starting from May 15.
“The court has passed its order in the Maddock Films vs PVRInox Cinemas case. 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, will now release in cinemas on May 23, 2025. Maddock Films plans to resume its marketing campaign from May 15,” the source told the entertainment portal.
