Director Lakshmipriya Devi's Bafta award-winning drama Boong has become the first Manipuri film to earn over Rs 1 crore since its March 6 release in India, according to a report. The film was co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, Chalkboard Entertainment, and Suitable Pictures.
Boong crossed Rs 1 crore at the domestic box office, as reported by PTI. The film had won the Best Children's and
Family Film award at the 2026 BAFTA ceremony held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 22.
The Manipuri film was nominated alongside films such as Ugo Bienvenu's French animated science fiction film Arco, Dean Fleischer Camp's live-action animated comedy from Hollywood, Lilo & Stitch, besides Jared Bush and Byron Howard's Hollywood animated comedy, Zootropolis 2, also known as Zootopia 2 in some markets.
