Boong created history as it became the first Indian film to win the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Award in the Best Children's and Family Film category. The Farhan Akhtar-backed Manipuri film is directed by Laskhmipriya Devi.
Boong was nominated alongside films such as Ugo Bienvenu's French animated science fiction film Arco, Dean Fleischer Camp's live-action animated comedy from Hollywood, Lilo & Stitch, besides Jared Bush and Byron Howard's Hollywood animated comedy, Zootropolis 2, also known as Zootopia 2 in some markets. The award was
handed out by Paddington Bear, who took to the stage to deliver a monologue, saying, "I am the first-ever bear to present an award, and also the first presenter to get marmalade over a BAFTA."
Apart from the Boong team, Indian presence at BAFTA 2026 included actor Alia Bhatt. The actor was a presenter at the award ceremony this year, and she made her red carpet debut in a Gucci silver sequinned gown at the awards ceremony.
This year, the BAFTA Awards were available to fans in India by live streaming via SonyLIV and the official BAFTA YouTube channel.
