Anupam Kher celebrates Tanvi The Great's entry in Oscars 2026 race

Tanvi The Great has achieved a major milestone on the global stage, with Anupam Kher announcing the film's entry in the top 200 films by the Oscars selection committee. The recognition comes on the same day the film completed 100 days in limited theatres, marking a proud moment for the team and highlighting the film’s growing impact beyond Indian screens.

Anupam Kher wrote on Instagram, "OSCAR. BEST FILM.SHORTLIST. TANVI THE GREAT!!! Every year thousands of films from all over the world are sent for the most prestigious film awards #OSCARS! Millions of people in the movie industry work very hard to get that initial nod and appreciation by the @theacademy! This also puts one in the category of the few very best in the business! Getting nominated and finally winning will be of course an ultimate feeling. BUT being in the list of top 200 films in the world finalised by the #98ThAcademyAwards committee is already a huge TRIUMPH for team #TanviTheGreat! We worked very hard! Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, Anupam Kher’s Tanvi: The Great and Hombale Films’ Mahavatar Narsimha are among the 201 feature films eligible for consideration at the 98th Academy Awards. While Homebound is India’s official entry this year, the makers of Kantara, Subodh Khanolkar’s Marathi film Dashavatar, and Tanvi The Great have taken an independent route to seek global recognition.

Earlier in the day, the veteran actor had also celebrated the film’s 100-day theatrical run, calling Tanvi The Great a heartfelt journey that has quietly touched audiences.
