Actor Aftab Shivdasani, last seen in Masti 4, spoke about his evolving career, genre shifts, and his next film, Kasoor, a psychological horror movie that marks a new chapter for the actor.

Despite the near-identical title, Kasoor does not draw from the 2001 thriller. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Aftab revealed, “It’s almost over. It’s called Kasoor. It’s a horror film, more specifically, a psychological horror film. It has nothing to do with the first Kasoor. It’s completely unrelated. It’s a very exciting project and perhaps my most challenging role so far. That much I can tell you.”

Aftab, who has completed 26 years in the

industry, still feels like a newcomer. “I genuinely feel like I’m just starting off,” he said.

Shivdasani, who is known for experimenting with his career choices, shared how it has been central to his journey. “Of course, people say that I’ve experimented a lot with characters and roles from the beginning—and that’s true. From Mast to Kasoor, I jumped genres constantly. That was the actor in me. If you look at my trajectory, it started with Mast—the boy-next-door, cute, chocolate-boy image. Cut to Kasoor, where I played a cold-blooded murderer. I won awards and accolades, and the film did well because people didn’t expect to see me in a film like Kasoor.”
