Actress Hansika Motwani, known for her roles in Telugu films like Desamuduru and Kantri, has taken legal action against her sister-in-law Nancy James, filing a Rs 2 crore defamation suit in a Mumbai Sessions Court.
The move comes amid an ongoing family dispute, with the actress seeking damages for alleged harm to her reputation.
According to reports, the case centres around claims that Nancy James made defamatory statements about Hansika on social media.
The actress alleges that these accusations were false and intended to damage her public image.
The
dispute also involves a financial matter. Hansika claims that Nancy had borrowed Rs 27 lakh during her marriage to Hansika’s brother, Prashant Motwani, and has failed to repay the amount despite repeated requests. The suit further alleges that the defamatory statements were made to avoid repayment and to create pressure for monetary gain.
Hansika has strongly denied allegations of domestic violence made against her, calling them baseless and malicious. She claims that the accusations were part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation and has accused Nancy of trying to extort money through a targeted defamation campaign.
