Bela Bose, who had acted in more than 200 Hindi and regional Indian movies from 1950s to the 1980s, is no more. She passed away on February 20 at the age of 79. Bela Bose was best known for her graceful dances and her acting ability. She was a part of blockbuster movies like Shikar, Jeene ki Raah, and Jai Santoshi Maa, to name a few.

Bela Bose was said to have stepped into films after her father's sudden death in a road accident. She became a part of showbiz to be able to support her family. She gained recognition with the dance number, Main Nashe Mein Hoon, which also featured Raj Kapoor. Her first leading role was in the



1962 film, Sautela Bhai, opposite Guru Dutt.

Bela Bose was married to actor and film maker, Ashish Kumar, who was also her co-star in Jai Santoshi Maa. She was a multi-faceted individual who wrote poetry, was a skilled painter, and a state-level swimmer. She had served as the President of the War Widows Association under the aegis of Smt. Mohini Giri.

She enjoyed a loyal fan following on her social media platforms. Above all, she was a loving and inspiring mother and grandmother. Hers is a life that’ll be celebrated and revered by all who knew her. She is survived by her son and daughter and grandson.
