Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has launched a strong criticism of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, sharing an old concert video to target him amid backlash over his collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in 'Sardaar Ji 3'.

Using a clip from Diljit’s 'Dil-Luminati Tour', where the singer recited late poet Rahat Indori’s lines “Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai,” Abhijeet accused Diljit of being disrespectful towards the country and posted a video montage in response.

Abhijeet shared the video on Instagram, which included Diljit’s concert footage and a snippet from Abhijeet’s own past interview. In the video, Abhijeet declares, “Hindustan hamare baap ka hain. Hindustan hamare baap ke baap ke baap ke purvajo ka hain (India belongs to our fathers and our forefathers).”

He

concluded the video with an image of himself holding the Indian flag while the patriotic song 'Sare Jahan Se Achha' played in the background. Alongside the post, he wrote, “Hindustan Hamare BAAP ka hai (India belongs to our fathers) (sic)”

The original clip of Diljit is from one of his concerts in Indore last year, where, amid Bajrang Dal protests and demands to cancel the show, he had dedicated the performance to poet Rahat Indori. He had recited the powerful poem, “Agar khilaaf hain hone do, Jaan thodi hai. Ye sab dhuaan hai asmaan thodi hai. Sabhi ka khoon hai shaamil yahan ki mitti mein/ kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai. (This loosely translates to: If they oppose, let them - it’s not life at stake. It’s only smoke, not the sky. The soil here holds the blood of everyone - Hindustan isn’t anyone’s personal property.)
