Actor Aamir Khan is not involved in the distribution of Rajnikanth's much-awaited film 'Coolie'. A spokesperson for Aamir Khan Productions clarified on Thursday that the actor would only be making a guest appearance in the film.
This clarification came after recent reports suggested that the actor had unexpectedly involved himself in the 'Coolie' (Hindi) release strategy.
A spokesperson for Aamir Khan Productions said, "Neither Aamir Khan nor anyone from his team is involved in the distribution of 'Coolie'. Khan has not made any calls to any exhibitor or distributor."
"His cameo
in the film is purely a gesture of his bond with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Everyone at AKP, especially Aamir Khan, is thrilled with the success of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' YouTube release and is overjoyed with the response it has received," the official further expressed.
Earlier, reports suggested Khan called PVR-Inox boss Ajay Bijli directly to push for premium showcasing for 'Coolie.' The 'Sitaare Zameen Par' actor also allegedly pushed for a marketing tie-up in North India. It was stated that this left PVR-Inox in a tough spot, considering 'War 2' is slated for a theatrical release on the same day, on August 14.
