Aamir Khan, Kareeena to reunite for 3 Idiots 2, filming starts next year: Report

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are reportedly gearing up to reunite for the sequel to the cult classic 3 Idiots. The original film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, released nearly 15 years ago and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Indian cinema lovers.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, the team is finally moving ahead with a follow-up featuring the same lead cast. A source told the portal, "The script has been locked, and the team is extremely excited for it. They feel the magic of the first film has returned, and it is as funny, as emotional, and as meaningful as the first part."

Offering insight into where the story is headed, the source added, "The story will be a continuation, picking up nearly 15 years after the



characters went their separate ways in the climax scene and reunite for a new adventure."

Hirani and Aamir Khan have reportedly put their planned Dadasaheb Phalke biopic on hold after feeling the script needed more work. With that project paused, the filmmaker decided it was the right time to return to the 3 Idiots universe, an idea he had been considering for years.

The report further stated, "He dedicated time to expand the 3 Idiots sequel into a full-fledged screenplay. Hirani always had a seed of an idea for 3 Idiots 2, but he wanted it to be perfect and something that would stand up to the legacy of the original."

Released in 2009, 3 Idiots remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved and highest-grossing movies.
