Aamir Khan’s film Sitaare Zameen Par will soon be available to stream on Sony LIV, overturning earlier statements that the movie would not appear on any major OTT platform. The announcement, made on Monday, March 9, signals a shift from Khan’s original plan, which emphasised an exclusive theatrical release followed by a limited digital run on YouTube. The film, which opened in cinemas in June 2025, had been made available for rent on YouTube by August, about six weeks after its theatrical debut.
As per the statement from the streaming platform, “the release marks a special milestone for the platform, as
Sitaare Zameen Par becomes the platform’s first Hindi theatrical film to premiere on the service.” The date of the film’s digital premiere is not yet available, as the platform shared an update saying it will be “released soon.”
Aamir Khan stirred debate earlier when he said that Sitaare Zameen Par would not be released on OTT platforms for at least six months after its theatrical run. However, the film eventually made its digital debut on YouTube just six weeks later. After releasing in theatres on June 20, it became available on YouTube on August 1, where viewers could rent it for Rs 100.
