Farah Khan has another reason to celebrate. The filmmaker-choreographer has been invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to join its 2026 membership, making her one of the Indian film personalities who could soon become part of the prestigious Oscar voting panel.
Khan shared the news with her followers on Instagram, expressing her excitement over the honour. "Thrilled & proud to be a part of this esteemed group," she wrote, reacting to the Academy's invitation. If she accepts the invitation, she will join the global body responsible for voting on
Oscar nominees and winners.
The Academy has invited 529 artists and executives from around the world to become members this year. The annual invitation recognises professionals for their contributions to cinema across a wide range of disciplines, while also expanding the organisation's international representation.
Farah Khan is among several names connected to the Indian film industry on this year's invitee list. Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, best known for critically acclaimed films such as Maqbool, Omkara and Haider, has also received an invitation.
