Ektaa Kapoor confirms The Dirty Picture 2

Producer Ektaa Kapoor has confirmed that The Dirty Picture 2 is in the works, about 15 years after the first film released in cinemas. The producer said she now has a story she wants to tell, but kept details about the sequel's cast, central character and release date under wraps.

Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, Ektaa said she had been thinking about a sequel for some time, and that she is moving ahead with it now because she has found a story she wants to share with audiences. She added that the new film, like the first one, will also revolve around one person's story, though she did not

reveal who that person is.

Ektaa said, "One very big film I'm making is The Dirty Picture 2. I'm planning it after 15 years. This time, I believe there is a story I want to tell. The Dirty Picture was about Silk Smitha. It was about a woman who was condemned for standing up against her sexuality. Now, sexuality is about your choice. I never saw her as a victim. I saw her as someone who celebrated her sexuality, and the film did so well."

She said the upcoming film would again centre on a person's life, but did not share any further details about its lead character or casting.
