The long-delayed Dostana 2 has reportedly run into yet another obstacle. Filmmaker Advait Chandan, who had been working on reviving the Dharma Productions-backed sequel, has exited the project after several months of development, according to reports.

While neither the filmmaker nor the production house has officially commented on the development, Variety India reported that Chandan's departure was linked to creative disagreements over the film's direction. The director, known for Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha, is said to have spent nearly seven months shaping the project before deciding to walk away.

According to the report, the differences reportedly "stemmed from creative differences as Chandan's vision for the project did

not align with the direction the producers wished to pursue."

The report further stated that the split was amicable and did not involve any public fallout between the two sides.

Chandan's departure adds another chapter to the turbulent history of Dostana 2, a film that has remained in limbo since its announcement in 2019. Conceived as a follow-up to the 2008 hit Dostana, the sequel was initially launched with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya in lead roles.

Production had already commenced in Goa, and portions of the film were shot before Aaryan's much-publicised exit in 2021. The actor's departure triggered widespread speculation and stalled progress on one of Dharma Productions' most anticipated projects.
