A day after denying permission, the Delhi Police granted approval for Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30. The clearance came after the organisers agreed to comply with several conditions laid down by the authorities, including those related to private security personnel and crowd management.
The concert faced uncertainty after the police reportedly cited specific threat-related inputs and security and law-and-order commitments during the festive season while initially refusing permission.
The police had laid down several conditions for the event, including requirements concerning the number of private security guards, crowd management and other security arrangements. Permission was granted after the organisers agreed to comply with these conditions.
"We have held a cordial and constructive
meeting with Delhi Police and presented a detailed plan addressing the required arrangements. We have assured the authorities of full compliance with all applicable security, traffic and crowd-management requirements," BookMyShow Live, the concert's ticketing partner, said in a statement.
BookMyShow Live added that it would continue to work with the police and other authorities to ensure a safe and smooth experience for concertgoers while minimising inconvenience to local residents and commuters.
According to reports, a letter from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, addressed to BookMyShow, stated that the request to organise the Delhi leg of Diljit's Aura India Tour had been examined but could not be approved at the time.
Diljit's team, however, continued to promote the October 30 concert on social media.
