The Government is planning nationwide celebrations of birth centenary of noted filmmaker Satyajit Ray.

Talking to newsmen in Kolkata on Friday, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare said that year-long programmes are being planned to celebrate the world-famed filmmaker at all important cities and towns of the country which includes a screening of his films and exhibitions on Ray's paintings and writings which falls in the year 2021.

Earlier Mr Khare visited the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata and took stock of the activities there.
