A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery and valuables worth nearly Rs 25 lakh from the residence of actor Raveena Tandon's brother, Rajiv Tandon. As per PTI, the woman gained the trust of the family while working as a caretaker before allegedly carrying out the theft.

According to police, the accused, identified as 47-year-old Rashi Chhabria, was recently arrested by the Juhu police. A resident of Khar, Chhabria had been employed to look after Raveena's elderly mother, Veena Tandon.

The alleged theft came to light in October 2025 when family members inspected a safe at the house and discovered it had been broken open. Several valuables were found missing, including gold and diamond jewellery as well as two luxury wristwatches.

According to the FIR, Rajiv Tandon confronted Chhabria after suspicions arose regarding the missing valuables. Police said she initially denied any involvement but later allegedly admitted to the theft. While she returned two luxury watches that had been reported missing, she reportedly told the family that the jewellery had

been handed over to an associate identified as Jagdish and assured them it would be returned.

However, despite multiple requests and follow-ups, the jewellery was never recovered, police said.

In his complaint, Rajiv Tandon said that Chhabria had been known to the family since 2020 through mutual contacts. Following the death of her husband and parents, she allegedly grew close to the family and was eventually granted unrestricted access to the residence.

The complaint further said that the valuables were stored on the second floor of the house, an area that was accessible only to family members and Chhabria.

Rajiv also alleged that Chhabria, through an associate who claimed to be a police informer, attempted to intimidate him by threatening to implicate him in a false narcotics case if he continued to demand the return of the missing jewellery.

Police arrested Chhabria on May 21. She was subsequently produced before a court, which remanded her to police custody until May 29. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
