Bhumi Pednekar joins relief work in flood-hit Assam to distribute solar lights

Actor Bhumi Pednekar joined relief efforts in flood-hit Assam, where she worked with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF) to distribute food, solar lights and other essential supplies to affected families. Videos shared by the actor and the organisation show her travelling through inundated areas, including late at night, as volunteers continued relief work on the ground.

In one video shared by BDRF, Bhumi is seen travelling by car through a flooded stretch of the state. The journey takes place in the dark, with water visible across the route. Pointing out the difficulty of navigating the area, she says, "The Google map is showing that there is a road but everywhere there is water."

The video, filmed at around 11 pm, shows Bhumi visiting flood-affected areas and interacting with residents. She is seen distributing food packets and other relief materials, along with solar lights to families



affected by the prolonged flooding.

Explaining the need for solar lights, Bhumi says in the video that the water level has not receded for nearly three weeks. With many families having limited access to electricity and living in temporary shelters, the lights can also help them stay safe after dark.

"It is very difficult. You will have to come and experience this to know the condition," she says.

Bhumi also shared the video on Instagram, highlighting the efforts of volunteers working with BDRF.

"Doesn’t matter what time of the day, volunteers are there supporting people @bdrf_official. Distributed solar lights to flood-affected families who are struggling with limited access to electricity and safe lighting. For families living in temporary shelters, a light after sunset is more than just a necessity, it brings safety, comfort, and hope," she wrote.
