The Jolly LLB franchise is set to return with a fourth instalment, with Arshad Warsi reprising his role as lawyer Jagdish Tyagi, popularly known as Jolly. Reportedly, the film is currently in pre-production and is expected to wrap up its shoot by January 2027. The makers are yet to finalise a title for the film, which will be directed by Umesh Shukla.

As per reports by Variety India, a source told the publication that the project is in the final stages of pre-production, adding that the upcoming film will not continue the story of the previous instalments but will instead be a prequel. The first three films in the franchise were written and directed by Subhash Kapoor.

Warsi first played Jolly in the 2013 film Jolly LLB, which followed a small-time lawyer taking on a high-profile case. The actor, however, did not return for the second instalment, with Akshay Kumar stepping into the franchise as

Jagdishwar Mishra. Kumar reprised his role in Jolly LLB 3, which brought both lawyers together for a courtroom face-off.

With the fourth film returning to Warsi's version of Jolly, the franchise will revisit the character's journey. The films have built their appeal around courtroom drama, social commentary and humour, using legal battles to explore questions of justice, privilege and accountability.

Another familiar face from the original film was Saurabh Shukla, whose portrayal of the judge became a key part of the franchise's identity. The first instalment also featured Amrita Rao, Boman Irani, Mohan Kapoor and Sanjay Mishra.

The fourth instalment is expected to release in 2027, following the completion of its shoot. With Warsi back in the lead, the new film will bring the franchise back to its original Jolly while exploring a chapter set before the events of the earlier films.
