Amitabh Bachchan didn't let the security scare at Jalsa keep him from his customary Sunday meeting with fans. But this time, the 84-year-old actor greeted the crowd from behind a transparent bulletproof glass enclosure, with extra security deployed outside his Mumbai home following a bomb threat last week. His son Abhishek Bachchan stood close by, keeping a watchful eye on the surroundings as his father waved to the crowd.
The unusual arrangement marked a departure from Amitabh's regular Sunday appearances, when he steps out to acknowledge fans gathered outside his bungalow. On Sunday, he greeted them with folded hands and waved from behind the protective glass. Abhishek remained
beside him throughout, appearing concerned and alert as security personnel monitored the gathering.
Videos and photographs of the interaction have since surfaced on social media, with the bulletproof enclosure drawing particular attention.
The tighter security follows a bomb threat against Amitabh's residence. Mumbai Police received an email threatening to blow up Jalsa, which was reportedly sent to a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex. An investigation was subsequently launched, while security arrangements around the actor's home were strengthened. The recent attack on actor Tiger Shroff has also added to concerns around the safety of celebrities.
