Amitabh Bachchan has expressed concern over the devastating floods in Nepal, describing the scenes of destruction as “unbearable to watch”. In a post on his blog, the actor said the fury of nature cannot be battled and called for divine intervention as the scale of the tragedy continued to emerge.
Nepal is reeling from flash floods that swept through Rasuwa and other parts of central Nepal on Wednesday after an ice-and-rock avalanche was triggered by a glacial collapse near the China border.
Sharing his thoughts on
the disaster, the 83-year-old wrote on his blog, “On a more serious note, the devastation of the floods in Nepal are unbearable to watch the fury of nature can never be battled with .. its respect needs the presence of the divinewe pray .. for that in itself is beyond all(sic)."
The floods were triggered by an ice-rock avalanche following a glacial collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border and tore through parts of central Nepal. The torrent of water, mud and debris swept away homes, vehicles, roads and bridges, and left entire settlements buried.
