Actor Will Smith barred from attending Oscars for ten years

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has barred actor Will Smith from attending the Oscars for ten years. This was done as a punishment for the actor slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organises the Oscars, announced the decision on last Friday.

Earlier in the day, the Academy's Board of Governors met to discuss Will's punishment for his



actions on the night of the award ceremony. 

This decision comes after the actors objectionable behaviour during the presentation ceremony on 27th of March. Will walked up to the stage at the 2022 Oscars and smacked Chris in the face after the comedian made a joke about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Later that night, Will won the Oscar for Best Actor.
