Actor Prakash Raj has criticized the invocation of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against YouTuber Prashna Ravan, who has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

Reacting on social media, Prakash Raj questioned the move to invoke UAPA after the accused had reportedly secured bail in multiple cases.

He alleged that the action reflected an attempt to suppress dissent and expressed concern over potential misuse of personal data to target individuals.

“This shows your

desperation to silence dissent… what next… character assassination by tweaking and leaking personal information,” he said, adding that such actions could create fear among those voicing opinions.

The actor further stated that while authorities may have “started the hunt,” citizens would eventually respond, ending his post with the hashtag “#justasking.”

The case has sparked debate over the use of stringent laws like UAPA and raised concerns among sections of civil society regarding freedom of expression.
