The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the schedule for the Civil Services Mains Examination 2025. The written stage of the exam will be held across five days, from August 22 to August 31, 2025 with two three-hour papers each day, one in the forenoon and another in the afternoon session.

This year, 14,161 candidates have cleared the Preliminary stage and will now proceed to the Mains, the second phase of the examination. Candidates who qualify for the written Mains will move on to the final stage of the personality test or interview.

The Mains exam will



kick off on August 22 with the Essay paper, followed by the four General Studies papers on August 23 and 24. Language papers Indian Language (Paper A) and English (Paper B) will be held on August 30. The two optional subject papers (Paper VI and Paper VII) are scheduled for the final day, August 31.

Admit cards for the exam are expected to be released in the second week of August 2025 on the official UPSC website.

Candidates can choose from a wide range of Indian languages for Paper A and a diverse list of optional subjects including humanities, sciences, engineering, and literature.
