Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the closure of all schools up to Class 12 across ICSE, CBSE, UP and other boards until January 5 due to the ongoing severe cold wave.
The decision comes as temperatures in several districts have plunged to record lows, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures to protect students and residents.
CM Yogi has instructed officials to remain vigilant and conduct field inspections to monitor the effects of the cold wave across the state.
He emphasised the need for timely action to prevent any adverse impact on vulnerable populations, particularly students and people living in open
areas.
Officials have been told to ensure that blankets and bonfires are arranged in all districts to provide warmth and protection against the extreme cold.
“No person should sleep in the open; officers should ensure all facilities in night shelters,” the Chief Minister said.
Authorities have been instructed to make complete arrangements in all night shelters, guaranteeing that residents have access to warmth, food, and basic facilities.
The directive covers schools under all major boards, including ICSE and CBSE, as well as state-run institutions, ensuring that students remain safe while continuing their studies from home during the period of extreme cold.
