Stage is all set for the students’ union elections in University of Hyderabad on Thursday. Like last year’s election, this year too there would be a direct fight between Alliance for Social Justice (ASJ) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to bag all the posts in the students’ body. The Students Federation of India (SFI)-UoH unit and Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) have joined forces to form an alliance to take on ABVP and National Students Union of India (NSUI).

The

alliance also has student organisations like Dalit Students Union, Tribal Students Forum, Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika and Democratic Students Federation. This year, Muslim Students Federation and Students Islamic Organisation have also joined the alliance.

About 5,000 students would cast their votes in the polling scheduled on Thursday and results would be announced on Friday. Last year, the United Front for Social Justice led by the SFI had won all posts in the polls.
