The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has received a whopping 52,991 applications for about 2,098 seats in various courses. Out of the total applicants, 49 per cent constitute women, 32.18 per cent are OBC, 15.13 per cent are SC and 9.36 per cent are ST.

The highest number of applications have been received from Telangana (17,054) followed by Kerala (6,887) and Andhra Pradesh (5,773) while the rest from across the country. This year the university administration is not offering admissions into 16 courses. In addition, there was a slight reduction in number of seats in M.Phil and PhD courses due to implementation of the University Grants Commission Regulations, 2016.

With this, the ratio works out to 25 applications per seat which is the same as received in the previous academic year for 2,271 seats, the university said. The university is offering admissions into 117



courses including 15 integrated programmes, 42 PG, 13 MPhil, six MTech and 41 PhD courses for the academic year 2018-19. The entrance tests are scheduled to be held from June 1 to 5 at 29 test centres across the country. The examinations will not be conducted at centres where the number of applications is less than 300.

The university will hold admissions to the MCA course based on the National Institute of Technology Common Entrance Test whereas admissions to all MTech courses will be through centralised counselling of MTech of GATE. The five-year integrated MTech (Computer Science) course admissions will be done through the Central Seat Allocation Board of Joint Entrance Exam.
