School of Management Studies at University of Hyderabad has launched a new program on master of business administration in business analytics from the academic year 2017-18.

According to a media conference issued by the university on Monday , the two-year MBA program will have student intake of 30, apart from five industry-sponsored candidates.

An entrance exam will be conducted by the university on June 1, 2017, to select potential candidates.The entrance exam will have questions of 75 marks, which would include multiple choice questions related to logical reasoning, verbal ability, quantitative ability , mathematical ability , statistical ability, data analysis and interpretation.

The short-listed candidates will be called in for a group discussion and personal interview. Weightage for the written exam, group discussion and personal interview is 60 per cent, 15 per cent



and 25 per cent, respectively .

The last date for applying online for the examination is May 5, 2017. Seats will be allotted on the basis of the candidate's performance in written exam, group discussion and personal interview.

Students enrolling for the program will gain knowledge and skill-sets in various areas, including operations research, marketing, statistics, machine learning, data mining, among others.

“As organizations across the world are putting in efforts to harness value from the data by deploying analytics, the students have great career opportunities in the field of analytics,“ states the press release.

It also states how companies across sectors such as IT, retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and consulting are working on data to gain competitive advantage by appointing business analytics experts.
