To improve national rankings of government degree colleges, the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) organised a workshop on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings.
The workshop highlighted the benefits of NIRF rankings, including their role in guiding students’ choice of institutions, facilitating scholar mobility, informing public policy, funding, and benchmarking institutional performance in national and global contexts.
TGCHE Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy said the Council
initiated mentoring of GDCs to improve their NIRF rankings and accreditations as part of the 100-day action plan. Rankings and accreditations will enhance institutional funding opportunities, accreditation outcomes, and overall quality of colleges, he said.
Dr K Veeranjaneyulu, Consultant Advisor to Vice-Chancellor, SKLTHU, delivered a talk on the NIRF methodology and weightage in rankings, while Dr J Upender, associate professor and Nodal Officer, OU Statistical Cell, spoke about best practices and strategies to boost TLR & research score.
