Telangana Private Degree and PG Colleges Management Association has announced an indefinite closure of their institutions from September 16, the second such call by the managements of the private degree colleges over fee reimbursement arrears in the past one year.

According to the managements, the State government owes around Rs.1,800 crore fee reimbursement dues to the colleges for the last three academic years. The government, as per the association, has already generated tokens for Rs. 750 crore but has not released the

amount.

“We will be closing down institutions if the government fails to release at least half of the amount for which tokens are generated,” said Dr. Bojja Suryanarayana Reddy, president Telangana Private Degree and PG Colleges Management Association.

He said the colleges would not be collecting any sort of examination fee from students or remitting the same to the universities, until the government resolves their issue.
Due to the non-release of fee dues, the college correspondents said they were unable to pay staff salaries and rent for the buildings.
