The Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 will commence on February 25, 2026.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) Secretary S Krishna Aditya said the State government has in principle agreed to the timetable for intermediate exams, which will be conducted from February 25 to March 18. A detailed schedule will be released shortly.

The intermediate practical exams would be conducted from the first week of February and the Board would shortly issue notification for payment of exam fee. This process would commence from November 1, he added.

Aditya said the Board has decided to introduce external practical exams in the first year intermediate itself. So far, external practical examinations were being conducted in the second-year intermediate.

Stating that the State government approved intermediate syllabus revision, Aditya

said subject-wise expert committee, which would be headed by a university professor, would look into syllabus revision that would be done on the basis of the NCERT syllabus. The process would begin in the first week of November.

The syllabus revision for sciences stream was done in the academic year 2013-14, while humanities curriculum revamp was carried out in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

“This time, QR codes will be printed on each paper in the textbooks for digital learning and textbooks will come with non-tearable paper. We will complete textbook printing and keep them ready by the end of April 2026,” he said.

Starting 2026-27, the Board would be introducing activity-based internal assessments for all subjects. While external exams would be for 80 marks, 20 marks would be earmarked for internal assessment. Further, the Board would launch a stream in accountancy, commerce and economics from the next academic year.
