Telangana Govt releases academic schedule for schools

Schools affiliated to the Telangana state board will close early next year April 13 onwards for the summer vaction. During the 2016-17 academic year, the Telangana school education department had revised its calendar to bring it in sync with the Central Board of Secondary Education's schedule.

During the 2016-17 academic year, the Telangana school education department had revised its calendar to bring it at par with the Central Board of Secondary Education's schedule.Accordingly, schools were shut during the first week of March and reopened on March 21 to resume classes for the next academic year But this has now been revised. As per the 2017-18 calendar, released by the director of school education on Tuesday, schools will revert to their old schedule during the new session with summer vacations beginning on April 13. They will reopen on June 1.

The summer break for 2017-18, as per the latest schedule, will be between April 13 and May 31.Also, the government has now revised the school timings by 15 minutes. While until last year, classes began from 8.30 am, this academic year they will commence only at 8.45 am for classes 6 to 10 and end at 4 pm. While for primary sections (class 1 to 5) classes will be from 8.45 am to 3.45 pm.

The syllabus for class 10 will be completed by January 31, 2018 following which revision classes and pre-final examinations will commence. Board exams will begin in March.
