Telangana extends Sankranti holidays, schools to reopen on January 17

The School Education Department on Monday extended Sankranti holidays up to January 16 for all schools across the State. Earlier, the department had announced a five-day holiday from January 11 to 15, with reopening scheduled for January 16.

However, the General Administration Department



recently declared January 16 as an optional holiday for the Kanuma festival. “As January 16 immediately follows the festival, it is decided to extend Pongal holidays up to January 16 and accordingly schools under all managements should reopen on January 17,” said Dr E Naveen Nicolas, Director of School Education.
