Supreme Court rejects plea to reopen CBSE re-evaluation window

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to reopen the CBSE result re-evaluation window, with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant telling students who missed the deadline that the court could not come to their rescue at this late stage.

The plea comes amid the wider controversy over CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, with the Supreme Court recently seeking responses from the Centre and CBSE on evaluation-related complaints and the one-week grievance window.

Around 1.68 lakh students had approached CBSE through



that window, with concerns also raised by students who could not seek redressal in time.

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant questioned how many students had managed to submit their applications for revaluation while the window was open. “If so many students managed to file applications, why did you not file it in time when the window was open?” the CJI asked.

The court said students who failed to apply within the stipulated period could not seek a reopening of the process at such a late stage.
