For the first time, government degree colleges and university constituent colleges will admit students to degree programmes through spot admissions.

The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) announced the spot admission schedule on Thursday, citing a large number of vacancies in these colleges.

As per the schedule, details of 2,08,895 vacant seats will be hosted on the https://dost.cgg.gov.in website on Friday. Spot admissions in all government degree colleges and private aided colleges are scheduled for September 15 and 16. The registration fee is Rs 425.

“As per requests from the colleges, students and student

organisations, we have decided to hold spot admissions in the government degree colleges for the first time. These institutions have to follow GO 15 that mandates reservation for local candidates and other reservation rules,” said Prof V Balakista Reddy, Chairman, TGCHE.

Following admissions, institutions must upload details on September 17. In the next phase, both government and private unaided degree colleges can hold spot admissions on September 18 and 19.

While admissions are open to non-local candidates as well, preference will be given to local candidates. Details of candidates admitted in this phase must be uploaded on the DOST portal on September 20.
