The Jammu administration has announced the closure of all schools across the division on October 6 and 7 following a 48-hour heavy rainfall forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.

According to officials, both government and private schools will remain shut during this period, as the region braces for continuous rainfall accompanied by possible waterlogging and disruptions in transport. The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rain

in several districts of Jammu division, which could lead to flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.

Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying or hilly regions prone to landslides. Disaster management teams have also been kept on standby to respond to any emergencies that may arise due to the adverse weather conditions.

Normal academic activities are expected to resume once the situation improves and a further review is conducted by local authorities.
