Private school teachers and student activists demanded that the State government ensure corporate and private schools adhere to holiday on every second Saturday.

In a representation submitted to School Education Director Dr Naveen Nicolas here on Thursday, TPTLF, SFI and DYFI representatives highlighted that while government schools have holiday on second Saturdays, several private and corporate schools were not adhering to the rule and operating classes.

Stating that private and corporate schoolteachers were working eight-10 hours every day without a break,

the associations said the teachers were being forced to work at home, evaluating answer scripts and other administrative work.

The student activists also demanded that the government enact a law to control fee exploitation by the private and corporate schools in the State, and wanted free education to be provided to economically weaker sections in private educational institutions.

TPTLF State convener A Vijay Kumar, SFI State president Rajinikanth and secretary T Nagaraju, and DYFI State secretary Anaganti Venkatesh, among others, submitted the representation.
