Job seekers seek detailed information about their prospective employers as more than half of the country's professionals look at the company's website before applying for a job, says a survey.
According to professional network site LinkedIn '2016 India Talent Trends report', Indian professionals don't apply for a job "right away". Instead, 58 per cent look up a company's website and 46 per cent read company reviews. Besides, India professionals are more likely to read company reviews than their global counterparts, it added.
"In India, where job seekers are digitally savvy... companies need to take control of their employer brand, given the thirst for information from prospective employees who may have many alternative career options," LinkedIn India Director for Talent Solutions, Irfan Abdulla said.
"By pro-actively sharing information that accurately profiles their companies, such as a company's culture and what it is like to work at a particular company, recruiters are

fostering a great candidate journey that could yield better results," Abdulla added.
Moreover, the survey found 90 per cent of professionals in the country are interested in hearing about new job opportunities. Those changing jobs are most interested in learning about a company's culture (67 per cent), perks and benefits (54 per cent) and employee perspectives (53 per cent). Not knowing enough about a company remains a challenge for Indian job switchers.
As many as 40 per cent find it harder to negotiate their salary and 39 per cent don't receive feedback on their job application, higher than the global average of 26 per cent.
Interestingly, 31 per cent don't know what it's like to work in a company they plan on moving to, the survey said.
LinkedIn surveyed 932 of its members in India between January and March and 251 members who changed firms during February-March to understand behaviours and information needs of Indian professionals changing jobs.
