Over 27 lakh students registered for admission to Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country this year, registering a jump of nearly 5 lakh against the last year's figure as the process went online for the first time.
In a series of tweets on Sunday, Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar hailed the Navodaya Vidyalayas for providing
education in rural sector and said the number of students enrolled reflected the growing quest for quality education.
He said that 27 lakh students have registered for Navodaya Vidyalayas admission test for 6th standard to be conducted on Feb 10 next year.Navodaya schools have 4,5000 seats in 623 schools spread over 601 districts.
