This year, diploma and BSc Mathematics students will have three new courses to choose for their lateral entry admission into second-year engineering and pharmacy undergraduate programmes.

Automation and Robotics, Computer Science and Design, and Pharmaceutical Engineering courses are the three courses that have been added in the Telangana State Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS ECET) 2022.

Students of diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electronics Instrumentation Engineering are eligible to take admission into Automation and Robotics course. Likewise, diploma in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Computers Engineering, Information Technology, and special diploma in Electronics (Computer) Engineering is prerequisite for admissions into the Computer Science and Design programme in BTech. For Pharmaceutical Engineering, candidates should possess a diploma in Pharmacy. Students wishing to enroll into these new courses should qualify in the relevant papers of the entrance test. Except for Pharmacy course, BSc Mathematics candidates are eligible for admissions into all BE/BTech courses based on their integrated rank.

“The eligibility criteria for admission into the new



BE/BTech programmes permitted by the government will be considered at the time of admission based on the government orders for the academic year 2022-23 (lateral entry admission),” an official said.

With the addition of three new courses, a total of 38 courses are on offer through the TS ECET 2022. Last year, as many as 21 new courses including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science were added to the entrance test.

This apart, engineering and pharmacy colleges can fill up all the vacant seats from the first year in the second-year through the lateral entry admissions apart from the 10 per cent of the seats on the actual intake, the official said.

The registration for the entrance test is underway on the website https://ecet.tsche.ac.in/ and the last date to apply without a late fee is June 8. With a late fee of Rs.500 and Rs.2,500, the applications can be submitted up to June 14 and July 6. While a total of 3,157 payments were made, 2,955 applications were received for the entrance test till the last count on Sunday.

Candidates who successfully register for the TS ECET 2022 can download the hall tickets from the website from July 8, while the entrance test is scheduled for July 13.
