Jamia Millia Islamia has appealed its students, staff members, teaching and non-teaching staff to participate in the event.

"We the people of Jamia Millia Islamia have always responded to every call for national unity with due sincerity," said a letter was written by Najma Akhtar, Jamia VC.

"I would, therefore, urge all of you to express solidarity with them as also with other



fellow-citizens by lighting candles, torches, mobile, flashlights or diyas in your houses, balconies or doorways on Sunday, the 5th April 2020 at 9 pm for 9 minutes after switching off the lights at homes," said a letter was written by Jamia Millia Islamia VC.

Moreover, the Union Minister of HRD, Ramesh Pokriyal has also appealed to students to participate in the activity of lighting candles on April 9.
