The New Delhi World Book Fair will return in January next year, with the 2026 edition scheduled to be held from January 10 to January 18 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The announcement has been shared with academic institutions and higher education bodies across the country, signalling an expanded role for universities and research institutions at one of India’s largest literary events.
The fair will be organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), an autonomous organisation functioning under the Ministry of Education. As in previous years, the event is expected to draw publishers, authors, students, educators and readers from across India and abroad.
For the 2026 edition, the Ministry of Education has decided to create a dedicated Ministry of Education Pavilion,
bringing together all academic institutions and autonomous bodies under one common platform.
The fair will be organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), an autonomous organisation functioning under the Ministry of Education. As in previous years, the event is expected to draw publishers, authors, students, educators and readers from across India and abroad.
Universities, institutes and other educational organisations will be able to set up stalls within this pavilion to showcase their academic achievements, research work, innovations, publications and institutional initiatives.
Officials said the decision builds on the experience of the 2025 edition of the fair, where participation by academic institutions received strong public interest.
