The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced several changes to the NEET UG 2026 counselling process aimed at simplifying medical admissions, reducing physical paperwork, and making the system more transparent for aspirants.

The updates were communicated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to state counselling authorities ahead of the NEET UG 2026 counselling process, as per media reports.

In another student-friendly reform, MCC has launched an online

resignation facility for candidates who wish to withdraw from their allotted seats, wherever resignation is permitted under the counselling guidelines.

The report also states that candidates can now submit resignation requests through the MCC counselling portal within the specified deadline, eliminating the need to visit the allotted medical college physically to complete the resignation process. The facility will be available according to the rules and timelines applicable to each counselling phase.
