Mass copying rocks Telangana inter practical exam, examiners debarred

Mass copying and malpractice were reported during the intermediate practical examination held in private and corporate junior colleges on Wednesday, prompting the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) to debar 16 examiners and lab assistants from all future examinations both practical and theory.  

As per an order issued by the Board, examiners were observed distributing answer slips (chits) to students on live CCTV surveillance and CCR observations, while some examiners intentionally left examination halls unattended to allow external material.

Furthermore, some examiners awarded marks



to students even before the exam concluded, while a few had the evaluation work done by others.  In addition, the Board noticed that cameras at some centres were reported offline or blinking when malpractice was initiated, suggesting intentional tampering.

Apart from relieving examiners of their duties, the Board under its ‘zero tolerance policy’ for malpractice decided not to pay remuneration, TA or DA to the defaulting staff.

The Board directed the district intermediate educational officers to appoint reserve staff from the waiting list to ensure the remaining exams are conducted without interruption.
