The Lucknow district administration has announced holidays for all schools up to Class 8 as the city continues to face a sharp drop in temperature and dense fog conditions. The order, issued on Friday, applies to government, government-aided, recognised private schools, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV).
The suspension of classes will remain in effect until January 8,
2026.
Officials said the decision was taken after reviewing alerts from the Meteorological Department, which has forecast a continuing cold wave and low visibility in the coming days.
The administration noted that young children are particularly vulnerable to extreme weather, and early-morning travel to school could pose health and safety risks.
